RODEOHOUSTON ENTERTAINER EDDY ARNOLD PASSES AWAY AT 89
Country music legend Eddy Arnold passed away Thursday in Nashville, Tenn., just days before his 90th birthday. The successful country music star performed seven times at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (1951, '53, '60, '64, '67, '72, '82).
Arnold, who began his career in the 1940s, sold more than 85 million records. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966, 37 of his hits crossed over to the pop charts. The biggest of those, Make the World Go Away, reached the top 10 during the fall of 1965, when it was heard on the radio alongside the latest records by the Beatles, the Supremes and the Rolling Stones.
